GRI Announcement January 1, 2020
U.S. Import General Rate Increase for
Full Container and Less than Container Freight
Carriers have announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) for cargo from Asia to The United States effective January 1, 2020. Based on this information, please be aware that forwarders are required by the FMC to announce possible rate increases 30 days in advance. Please also note that these are carrier announced GRI’s and may be mitigated. If carriers actually follow through with implementing this charge, Scarbrough will begin charging GRI on all FCL and LCL cargo that departs these locations on January 1, 2020.
Scarbrough continually works with carriers to waive or mitigate these charges.
If anything changes, we will inform you as applicable.
For Far East (except India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh), S.Africa, E.Africa and Middle East to USA and Puerto Rico:
1) For USWC/G4 cargo:
- USD 240/20′ container
- USD 300/40′ container
- USD 300/40′ high cube container and reefer container
- USD 380/45′ high cube container
2) For cargo delivered to other inland via USWC (except G4 States):
- USD 270/20′ container
- USD 300/40′ container
- USD 300/40′ high cube container and reefer container
- USD 380/45′ high cube container
3) For cargo delivered to Houston, TX/ Tampa, FL/ Mobile, AL/ Miami, FL/ New Orleans, LA Port cargo:
- USD 405/20′ container
- USD 450/40′ container
- USD 450/40′ high cube container and reefer container
- USD 570/45′ high cube container
4) For All other cargo:
- USD 360/20′ container
- USD 400/40′ container
- USD 400/40′ high cube container and reefer container
- USD 506/45′ high cube container
(B) For India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh to USA and Puerto Rico:
1) For cargo delivered to/via USEC:
- USD 180/20′ container
- USD 200/40′ container
- USD 200/40′ high cube container and reefer container
- USD 253/45′ high cube container
2) For All other cargo:
- USD 270/20′ container
- USD 300/40′ container
- USD 300/40′ high cube container and reefer container
- USD 380/45′ high cube container
