ACE Updates and Opportunities to Learn More
What is ACE?
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) automated systems electronically support the facilitation of importing and exporting goods. In order to comply with Presidential Executive Order 13659, Streamlining the Export/Import Process for America’s Businesses, by the end of 2016, the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) will become the Single Window – the primary system through which the trade community will report imports and exports and the government will determine admissibility.
CBP recently reassessed timelines due to concerns of stakeholder readiness. November 1 begins a transition period for electronic entry and entry summary filings in ACE, which will become mandatory by the end of February 2016. Electronic data for Partnering Government Agencies (PGAs) FDA, NHTSA, APHIS (Lacey) will also transition to ACE by the end of February with the balance of the PGAs following by July. The online portal filing capability for the Automated Export System (AES) will be available in late October and fully transition to ACE by early 2016 for web, EDI and AESPcLink filers.
