#GoGlobal – Export Plan
Dear Kansas City regional business leader,
It’s our honor to present to you Kansas City’s first export plan! After 16 months of hard work, the World Trade Center – Kansas City and the Global Cities Initiative Steering Committee have a world class product in hand to increase exports out of our region.
We began this journey in January 2015 by joining the Global Cities Initiative, a joint project of the Brookings Institution and JP Morgan Chase. With the guidance of the Brookings Institution, we learned more from Kansas City businesses on how they view global trade through surveys, one-on-one interviews and focus groups. We released the final research results in October 2015 in the KC regional GCI Market Assessment.
Our plan addresses the challenges in growing local exports directly through a new program called the “Export Concierge.” The Concierge will provide personal, one-to-one guidance to current and prospective exporters, helping them navigate – from entry to export – the complex process of entry into foreign markets. The KC region has all the right pieces to grow exports, but based on our market assessment, these pieces need to be better connected. That’s what this export plan does.
Please take a moment to look over this plan and if you are interested in getting started with exporting or learning more about international trade, please contact the World Trade Center at info@wtc-kc.com or 816.374.5457. Go Global KC!
Sincerely,
Chris Gutierrez, co-chair, Global Cities Initiative Steering Committee |
