Hurricane Joaquin approaches the East Coast

Hurricanes are extremely difficult to predict in terms of exact storm track and associated impacts.  There is always a high degree of variability and that is certainly the case with Hurricane Joaquin.  We are closely monitoring Joaquin via forecasts from the National Hurricane Center and the National Weather Service in Wakefield, Virginia.

Over the last 48-72 hours, our Operations, Maintenance and IT Teams have employed proven strategies for hurricane preparation on our terminals, including:

If Hurricane Joaquin’s weather pattern will impact our port, our partners at the U.S. Coast Guard, Sector Hampton Roads will take immediate steps to protect maritime assets.  The following document – 2015 Port of HR Maritime Severe Weather Contingency Plan – will help you understand possible actions taken, and conditions declared, by the Coast Guard.
