New USA-Mexico Bridge
Homeland Security Secretary and Secretary of Commerce joined Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto to inaugurate the Tornillo-Guadalupe Port of Entry and International Bridge in Tornillo, Texas.
The port of entry will replace the Fabens-Caseta Port of Entry inaugurated in 1938 and will connect Tornillo, Texas and Guadalupe, Mexico.

A Department of Commerce press release states that new U.S.-Mexico border crossing points like this one are essential for maintaining and enhancing North American economic competitiveness in a globalized world. Nearly $1.5 billion worth of goods cross between the two countries each day and approximately 80 percent of U.S.-Mexico goods trade takes place via road and rail. The Department of Commerce notes that U.S. imports from Mexico contain as much as 40 percent U.S. content, which means that U.S. and Mexican-made goods often cross the border multiple times in the course of being turned into a final product.
