Air freight, ocean carriers, rail lines, and more have ceased operations into and out of Russia. Additionally, the nation has effectively been cut off from the western financial system. KCS Takeover Fight Flares Again Between CP, CN
After a period of relative quiet, the fight between Canadian National Railway and Canadian Pacific Railway for the rights to take over Kansas City Southern has escalated again. According to Transport Topics, CP is set to be the victor and begin the takeover in the next year. But CN has thrown up another roadblock by filing a “Responsive Action Petition” with U.S. Surface Transportation Board. Whichever rail carrier takes over KCS will have the first continuous line linking Canada, the U.S., and Mexico.
Vessel Carrying Luxury Cars Sinks in Atlantic After Days of Onboard Fires
A ship carrying more than 4,000 cars sank in the Atlantic after days of fires on board. The Felicity Ace caught fire February 16 while carrying Volkswagen, Porsche, Bentley, and Audi vehicles. According to American Shipper, all 22 of the crew evacuated the vessel safely.
Storms Threaten Midwest and Southern Transportation Corridors This Weekend
Severe storms are slated to dump rain, snow, winds, and more throughout the south-central U.S. this weekend. FreightWaves reports that two separate systems the region. Severe weather will impact the I-29 corridor Saturday near Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri. Canada and the southern U.S. will see their share of severe weather Sunday.
